Can a dehumidifier reduce air conditioning costs?

I remain in a very humid climate and have been thinking about buying a 65 pint dehumidifier. I normally keep the a/c thermostat on during the summers at 78.

In my thought, yes it would. Because the humidity is what makes you feel sticky, hot, sweaty, and gross. If you have ever been to a drier climate, you notice that the dear temps are more tolerable. For example, I went to las vegas nevada and noticed that it was very tolerable at low 90's... While at effectively in PA, 90's is very untolerable due to humidity, sticky, sweaty, muggy, and makes you feel like you for a shower. You just cant get comfortable.

No. A dehumidifier is a refrigeration entity in it's own right. It removes the water from the air the same as the air conditioner, Except it puts the heat back into the air as it passes back through the condenser.

In my way of thinking, yes it would. Because the humidity is what makes you feel sticky, hot, sweaty, and gross. If you have ever been to a drier climate, you notice that the strident temps are more tolerable. For example, I went to las vegas nevada and noticed that it was very tolerable at low 90's... Would two "low pint" dehumidifiers be equivilent to a "high pint" one?

I was wondering because I desperate straits a 65 pint dehum, but I can get a 40 pint and a 25 pint at a much cheaper cost. But would it be the same?

In this for fear that b if, two are better than one. You can place them in different parts of the area and get a bit more even humidity level than you would with one big one in the middle of the area.

The only right downside to this arrangement is the two will use more energy to do the same work than one larger unit would.

What's the best dehumidifier?

I'll be buying a unfettered capacity dehumidifier (65-70 Pints). Which are the best brands? LG, Kenmore, Frigidare?

Anybody with real exultant experience?

If you don't have access to Consumer Reports, this website does a tidy analysis of various reviews on consumer products such as dehumidifiers:

We have a Whirlpool 50 pint Ultra Low Temp. dehumidifier purchased from Costco and it works good-looking well. We use it in the basement which is approx. 1000 sq. ft. in area.

Hope this helps.
