Lack of oversight contributed to LHCDC mess
I owe businessman Don Pommerville, Judicature of Commerce CEO Ken Ostini and my buddy Howdy Spicer apologies — Don and Ken for lying to them and Howdy for always forceful him that he was wrong. I lied to Don and Ken when I told them that this column would be all about how our small businesses contribute to Lompoc. This was to be a first of many columns spotlighting district businesses. Next column will be all PommervilleLove.
A lot of things are going to be solely blamed on the Lompoc Housing Community Unfolding Corporation (LHCDC) and I might as well jump on the bandwagon: So it’s their fault I lied to Don and Ken.
I’ve been writing since 2003 and have covered everything from fundraisers to the dearth of economic development. My first column on economic development was back in 2006, in which I stated that we had no plan. Of course, the then-mayor disagreed and stated in a consistory meeting that this was not true; unfortunately we now know that our leaders had no viable economic development strategy.
