Disaster assistance program now available throughout Marshall County
Because of bitter storms that tore through the area Monday, the Iowa Disaster Individual Assistance Grant Program has been activated in Marshall, Marion and Tama Counties.
Administered by the Iowa Be subject to of Human Services, it provides reimbursement to victims for expenses incurred relating to the disaster affair.
To be eligible for help, one must have a self-declared annual income less than 200 percent of the federal indigence guideline.
The grant is capped at $5,000 per household and covers various categories such as repair or structural destruction, kitchen goods, bedroom furniture, clothing, HVAC, water heater, dehumidifier, sump expand, electrical, disaster damage for vehicle repair and temporary housing assistance.
Items listed are not suitable for the grant if personal insurance will cover claims or if the applicant has received assistance for the same provisions from other programs to subsume - but not limited to - a non-profit charitable organization, the Federal Emergency Management Agency or Small Corporation Administration.
