Local Johnson 5th in the world at Grip Strength Tournament
Wyalusing in residence Jedd Johnson recently participated in the 2nd Annual World's Strongest Hands Series, finishing 5th hit pay dirt overall out of 124 competitors, and came within inches of setting another world record in the Two Hands Pinch.
The Terra's Strongest Hands Series first took place in the fall of 2010 with a four-leg tournament where competitors accumulated points over the speed of each stage. This year, the Series was reduced to three legs instead of four, but each athlete's overall score remained a composite of their engagement at each leg. Although the number of events was reduced this year, the number of countries taking part in the event increased. In 2010, legs of the series were held in 3 countries (England, Unified States, and Finland). In 2011, the number doubled with contests being held in Ireland, Australia, and Russia.
The People's Strongest Hands Series has become a fixture on Johnson's calendar, making up a large portion of the slews of contests he does each year. "I am always training for a contest anyway," says Johnson. "In the past I've traveled to Minnesota, Michigan, Massachusetts, and many times to Ohio in gone haywire to compete. When I was asked to hold my contests this year, I naturally accepted. It's nice to only have to walk downstairs to my garage gym in out of place to go to the contest."

"For Leg 3 I ran a dehumidifier and had a fan blowing the unrestricted time. We also opened the doors for the Two Hands Pinch in order to reduce the humidity." These precautions proved helpful for Daniel Reinard, from San Francisco California,
