Southampton Town Police: Man Drives Into LIRR Gate; Charged With DWI
Southampton Metropolis Police reports from Oct. 17 through Oct. 24:
DWI
James Gibbons , 60, of Houston was arrested Friday at 12:43 p.m. on North Phillips Ave. in Speonk and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Gibbons was in a car casualty, colliding with the Long Island Rail Road gate and a Ford pickup truck driven by an Eastport man, according to boys in blue. Upon investigation, police discovered Gibbons appeared intoxicated, officers said. An ambulance took him to Peconic Bay Medical Center for trifling injuries.
Robbery
A 21-year-old Westhampton man told police that two men jumped him and stole his wino beverage early last Wednesday, October 19.
While the Westhampton man was walking on Montauk Highway in Quiogue between Strebel’s Car Ebb and the Quogue bridge , two men came up to him and stole a 24-ounce container of Mike’s Hard Lemonade from his sweatshirt embezzle.
The Westhampton man was highly intoxicated at the time of the robbery, and suffered a cut on his forehead and wrist, police said. Officers are investigating.
