how do I change a 3 prong to 4 prong dryer connection? ?

I equitable got an older dryer and I need to replace the 3 prong to 4 prong. The dryer has a yellow, white and blue wires. the 4 prong rope I will attach white to white green to ground but what about the black and the red?

go to your specific hardware store or Sears and look for an adapter


I did this on a kenmore prototype. Match the wire colours and ground it out against the body.
Your replacement cord should have matching colours for all except ground.

The wire in matter is a ground wire. Older homes have 230vac 3 conductor recepticals for stoves and/or for dryers.
