how do I change a 3 prong to 4 prong dryer connection? ?

I equitable got an older dryer and I need to replace the 3 prong to 4 prong. The dryer has a yellow, white and blue wires. the 4 prong rope I will attach white to white green to ground but what about the black and the red?

go to your specific hardware store or Sears and look for an adapter

I did this on a kenmore prototype. Match the wire colours and ground it out against the body.
Your replacement cord should have matching colours for all except ground.

The wire in matter is a ground wire. Older homes have 230vac 3 conductor recepticals for stoves and/or for dryers.
The codes coerce newer models to accomodate grounding and thus they are now 4 wire. You can replace your 4 wire with

I unprejudiced bought a new dryer an after I got it home I find out the plug and wall outlet are different. I bought a 4 wire/prong cord from Lowe's but the dryer only has three energized connections? on the back of the dryer. How do I switch cords
Suitable me if I read this wrong, but it seems that you bought the four prong cord to match a four prong outlet. Do you mean you bought a new dryer or a new one for you but employed? Makes a difference here. A new dryer will have four connections. The
