An appliance repairman told me there was a weak spot on the dryer motor causing it to freeze up?

He said all motors have this retiring spot and will not start from that position. He fiddled a bit and the dryer drum now turns fine. So - is there any truth to that?

When tough to start dryer the motor will try to turn but cannot. We have replaced front door piece and bearings on the front door piece and belt is positive. The drum turns free and still motor only hums. We have had the motor out and it does turn free.
