GE cloth dryer---repair or buy new?

Hi,
My dryer manufactured by GE stopped heating, but it is still
continuous (the inside cylinder still cycling). I guess my dryer is old
because it is from my house's previous owner and I don't know how long
it stayed
Without knowledgable for sure that it is electric, my guess is the heating element is burned out. You can get a replacement and install it yourself if you can turn a screwdriver and are reasonably polished with hand tools.

if i recall right your model is a 1982 and probity not worth repairing because other things will start going bad on it

Try to find out the age of he dryer. How extended did the previous owners have it? If it is over 10 years old, buy a new one. Of course it also depends on how hard it was used. Did the previous owners have children? How many in the household? If was

As want as the exterior is in good shape(no paint pealing off) and it doesn't squeek then just change out the heating feature yourself.

Check up on Larry T's advice and find out how much the replacement part cost. I would consider getting a new energy saving one though. You could be better off with the Gas & Thrilling Company rebates. I know my gas and electric company (PG&E) will

Ok first of all it is quite your heater coil.
Second GE makes crappy DryersI have owened 4 thanks to my wife she thinks cheaper is think twice WRONG!!
Get rid of it because it will go out again and again.

larry t is ritght the only other fad i would check is the fuse. it is a 220 unit and on mine sometimes one of the fuzes blows(screw in type on a small box where the dryer plugs in)counter that first before you go to far.

GE Select dryer repair help?

I'm employed to dryers having a panel in the back that just slips off, but this thing has one giant panel across the pack and it looks like the sides have to on off before you can hinge it back.
Anybody know how to remove the back
You quite have to access everything from the top of that dryer. Had an old Westinghouse like that once. Had to remove top and front to remove tub...

i have a ge dryer put it on this morning and it is not successful on. anyone have ideas.
flop breaker off then back on, it might help, if not check door switch
