how do you light the pilot on older GE gas dryers?

on the front bottom there is a teeny door - upon opening this, you see a little red lever that says to push to the left to light pilot. This dryer is 30 + years old. Thanks!
you DON'T. these are fire traps. anything with a erect pilot is outmoded. get a dryer with electronic ignition.

I coincide with mell. dry lint + open flame = FIRE

Your provincial gas and electric company, should send some one out to light it, if you call them. You can ask to have it inspected for safety.

Do GE, Whirlpool, Maytag, or Kenmore make any washers or dryers in America?

I hanker after to buy a new washer and dryer which is made in America. I've seen the Staber website, but they're really pricey, and I've never seen their models at a cooperative store. If some of them are made in the US, would you please let me know
Yes and no. Today's first-class washers are front load models. Buying a conventional top loader is like buying a black-and-off-white tv. Whirlpool makes all the Maytags. Their top load machines are made in Clyde, OH, their front loaders are made in Germany,

My dryers sounds like it's scraping metal when I turn it on?

I had a tech rise out before and he said it was just a loose screw and he found a nail in between the seal. Now 2 months later it is screeching again and it looks like it has been rubbing against a metal show underneath the drum.
I have
There should be rollers under the drum. They can go bad and creator the noise and rubbing. Should be replaceable.
