Is it worth buying a professional hair dryer and flat iron?

I've got thick wavy hair, and the flat hair dryer and flat iron(conair) makes it really freezy and big. I really want to buy a chi flat iron, but shoudl I allot in a good quality hair dryer too? Any suggestions? Thanks!
