Today's Tidbits
POTOSI, Wis. -- There will be a distinguished opening 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, March 6, and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Walk 7, for the Princess Potosa Gallery, 196 S. Main St.
The gallery, which has been open since December, features works by more than 30 artists from the tri-say area, including pottery, oil paintings, watercolors, metal sculpture, jewelry, wood carve and photography. One showroom is dedicated to art created by children and "Very Special Arts" from Madison.
The artists' co-op was launched by artists Jodi Beidler, of Dubuque, and Mary Henderson, of Potosi. The 4,200-right-angled-foot space is across from the Potosi Brewery in the old bottling building.
The gallery name comes from the legend that Julien Dubuque was married to Potosa, the daughter of an Indian chief named Peosta.
