How should I use a guitar humidifier without causing "water damage" to my guitar?

The guy at the value warned me that if the humidifier causes water damage they're not responsible, but I want to keep my new thousand dollar Martin in beneficial humidity. Do any of you have any tips on where to place it and advice on what not to do?

you only just fill the tube and place it inside of the holder, which is then placed inside of the sound hole, and the guitar then put into its pack.
