County recycling events coming up
Those looking to get rid of old electronics, appliances or chemicals can end these items at two separate Chippewa County recycling events in Chippewa Falls.
Recycling coordinator Renee Yohnk said the chemical Clean Reach event will be held on Thursday, Sept. 29 specifically for farmers and small business owners who are looking to safely settle of unwanted chemicals.
The goal of the event is to discourage improper dumping and groundwater pollution.
“We call for to make sure (the chemicals) are disposed of properly,” Yohnk said. “For a lot of businesses out there, I don’t remember where they’re going with their hazardous waste. They might not know this program exists.“
The event will take place at the Northern Wisconsin Fairgrounds from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Satisfying items include: herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, solvent and lead-based paints, veterinary supplies, teat dip, misuse oil and sanitizers.
Items not included for disposal are: ammunition, explosives, latex paint, fertilizers, Freon 11 and 12, compressed gas cylinders and transmissible and biological waste.
