Winterizing checklist

Outdoors

• Edging trees so no branches fall and hurt people or homes.

• Check your mortar to see if any chunk needs tuck-pointing.

• Caulk spaces around windows and get the storms in place.

• Finish the lawn mower and check out the snowblower.

• Make sure gutters are clean and balanced.

• Successively off outside water and drain any irrigation system.

Inside

• Check your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and put in new batteries.

• Call a technician to leave your furnace and humidifier and show you how to change the filters.

• Hire a chimney sweep for your fireplace unless you're up for that messy job yourself.

• Protect your attic.

Can I use a cool mist humidifier without the filter?

I've got a Vicks unfriendly mist humidifier but the filter keeps getting moldy and gross. Can I use it without the filter?

you're believe to clean the filter, along with the humidifier after ea use;; they sell the filters separately; but it sounds like the whole unit is moldy & gross if you've gotten the filter this bad;; you can polish it out with alcohol or bleach,

is it ok to run humidifier without filter for a couple days?

item uses disposable filter that i cant replace for a few days, Does anyone know if it is harmful to health or humidifier to run without filter

If there is any mold, mildew or bacteria in the humidifier (where bacteria likes to survive in warm wet areas) then you will be spreading it around the room like a germ sprinkler.

I am not a big fan of humidifiers unless they are kept

if it is a purposeful mist humidifier you need the filter or no moisture will be dispersed into the air, and you will, essentially, be running a fan. If you are using an ultrasonic humidifier, or a warm befog humidifier the unit will still put moisture
