We are troublesome to remodel our guest bathroom and took out the tile from our shower. Now we were told it needs to be hot mopped. Is this something we can do ourselves? If not, what should I upon to pay to have this done?
That's exactly what it is, tar mopped on the shower pan floor. It puts a barrier between the foundation.
Your smart!
That's old technology. Use a dull rubber/vinyl membrane made for this purpose. Buy it in Home Depot and the drain that goes with the use of a membrane.
Much more and WATERTIGHT.

u would be think twice off to take out this outdated pan and install the newer ones that r made in place, its a poly membrane.....then use mortar over it and mold it toward the conduit......creates a good job..

When you wash dishes or mop the floor, does the water have to be freshly hot in order to be cleaned?

I have dishes that soaked in soapy moisten overnight, & same usually happens with mop water & soap. Would the cleaning be less effective? Should I empty the water & delegate fresh, new soapy water to clean them?
Use new hot water. Hot water dissolves grease and other impurities better, and is tougher on germs. Also, water, even soapy piss of superior, that has been sitting out for many hours very likely has things growing in it (bacteria, fungus), although you can't see them.
