Photo gallery and review: MoP ShoP fashion exhibition at Goss-Michael Foundation
Featuring items from the appear/summer 2011 collection, this is Mother of Pearl’s first and only showing of the collection in the United States.
Known for choosing a rank of contemporary visual artist’s work for her exclusive collections, Norman’s British fashion abode works each season with a new artist in order to produce her sports-inspired silhouettes made from soft fabrics and iconic prints.
“I’m inspired by sports; I’m a surfer and into the sports picture, so it’s outdoor inspired, drapey, and feminine,” Norman explained, pointing to several pieces in the hoard made from leather and easy-to-wear silk.
With Lambie, the collaboration works especially well. His musical insights and her retro twist produce a cacophony of music, fashion, and art blended together.
Mannequins donning flower bouquets for heads and decked out in the latest MoP pieces like retro floral prints wore Lambie’s images as silk blouses and shorts, jumpsuits and slouchy trousers. “This whip-round is most suited for the opened-minded, adventurous person with an art slant,” said Norman.
