Do you have an electronic air cleaner now? If you do not, then I would call to mind you not change. A pleated type mechanical air filter is all you need. If you have severe breathing problems, or punitive allergies then I would look into one of these http://www.air-zone.com/uv.html

How do I replace my furnace / air conditioning filter(s)?

3 years ago, I had a utter HVAC cut-in on my house. They installed a Lennox 12ACB air conditioner, a Lennox G40UH gas furnace, and an Aprilaire 2400 air cleaner. The systems all run horrible, but I've never changed any filters. Where are they is the question?
The purify on the furnace should also be the same one for your air conditioning duct. It will be located in the return air just before the blower compartment on the furnace.
