how to troubleshoot and reset a timer from a Maytag Performa washer oversize cap Plus/Quiet Series Heavy Duty?

4 burn rubber Select / 16 cycles . i change they water pump thinking it was water drain blow up due to water wasn't agitating and draining. Well to find out it wasn't the pump but the timer . Washer doesn't when i turn and discredit up dial on 16

Timers are all things considered easier to just replace if suspect/bad. There are ways to diagnose whether power is being sent to the proper devices although they alter and may require a service manual to diagnose. Most machines also have a wiring diagram on them somewhere

Troubleshooting for my Maytag LAT8600AAL?

It seems to be having some type of "switch actuator" trouble. When I start a load, the water fills then it stops. I can launch the lid, shut it, and strike the machine back near the switch actuator/lid switch/door switch and it will sequence
Don't understand of any manuals but may I suggest an alternative.
Use a double sided tape, ( the thick one ), and a plastic disc. Cut the disc out of the side of an icecream container, put it on the belt, then the tape over the nice clean
