Can you explain why people driving in their cars find it perfectly acceptable to throw trash out the windows?

Mainly it's cigarette butts. Some give them a quick flick so their hand cannot be seen coming out the window, while others almost make a casting out of extending their arms before dropping the butt. It's impossible to predict from which car trash will

The people who do that were not brought up becomingly. I don't know how we can break that cycle. When I was a younger, I used to correct friends who did that. But I don't think that correcting people is in pattern anymore, unless they commit a criminal
