By Molly Mcgowan, Times-News, Burlington, N.C.June 30--Outstanding July 1, North Carolina's banonelectronicwastewillprohibit certain items from being dumped into landfills with other gobbledygook, but staff at the Alamance County Landfill want to remind residents that they're there to help with implementation of the new law.
In a dirt release, Solid Waste Director Greg Thomas said personal computers and televisions must now be recycled, but people can also set forth DVD players, telephones, vacuum cleaners and other electronics to the landfill's convenience center for recycling.
Thomas wants to keep the mess surrounding the Discarded Computer Equipment and Television Management Law at a minimum and said, "We will continue to accept (electronics) at our convenience center," where sceptre will assist users in determining what e-waste should be recycled.
Though the state's ban on e-waste isn't effective until the beginning of next month, Thomas said the Alamance County Landfill began recycling electronics two years ago, and has already diverted 295 tons of murder from filling up the landfill.
