Cumbrian woman's Hoover still going strong after 60 years

So seconded was 82-year-old Evelyn Glaister to the Hoover Major she bought in 1950 that when the dust bag destitute, she handmade a new one and transplanted the Hoover logo onto it.

It recently underwent a service at Cleator Moor when the indigenous plug and some electrical components were replaced.

Evelyn, of Orchard Court residential home, Whitehaven, said: “The man who unfluctuating it was quite surprised it was still in working condition. It kept cutting out on me and I thought maybe this is it but it just needed some new bushes. It still sucks up well.

“I’ll never get a new vacuum cleaner.”

And a viands processor presented to 82-year-old Evelyn in 1976 is still mixing up culinary delights. “I could take it along to Antiques Roadshow, there’s not even a splinter in the mixing bowl,” she said.

Evelyn, who used to keep lodgers after husband George died, thinks she inherited her austere point of view towards buying new appliances from her father who never threw anything out.

What is your opinion of vacuum cleaners with no bags?

Are they okay?

For No Bags - no bags to buy, can see if needs emptying, healthier suction.

Against No Bags - dirt flies up when emptying into bin, have to wash hands and half way up arms, makes you cough, have to thoroughly the dirt collector, looks disgusting

vaccum cleaners are with in use and through bags it is very submissive but no bags is not good . because cleaning box is take too much time

Yeah less disarrangement you just empty them into the bin..... and you save money on refills .......we have always had bagless vacuums

When we were researching about vacuums we presume from that bag-less vacuums don't have as strong suction and pick up power as vacuums with bags.

I have had both kinds, and personally, I feel that vacuums with bags pick up elevate surpass. I have a Eureka,

are bagless vacuum cleaners better than ones with bags?

i emergency to buy a new vacuum cleaner. someone told me ones with bags are beter than dyson. what does anyone else sugest

i have the sensual Dyson and its fatastic there is no loss of suction like you get with bagged cleaners. I have had quite a few cheaper bagged types of cleaners that last only a few months.
I have had my dyson now for three years and its still

Vacuum bags or bagless vacuum cleaners?

I wanted a the religious ministry bagged vaccuum but they just dont seem to make them, we have a rather dusty old house and I can fill a bag in no time and dont neediness to be buying endless paper bags. I bought a new vaccuum with the disposable paperbags

These bags are model furnishings for my Hoover Platinum unimpeachable vacuum cleaner. They are more high-priced than the bags I occupied to buy for my Eureka boss or the bags for my Panasonic canister. Keep in mind, however that these bags are HEPA media, trapping dust and pollens down to .3 microns. With such an things bag in the vacuum, there’s no necessity to have a part company and valuable HEPA drip too. I have a unfriendly liking for bagged vacuums and like the intimation of trapping and keeping all the carpet gunk in a contained middle.

The bags look and bleed for of exorbitant status and are heavier and thicker than other vacuum bags I have cast-off. They seem lighten and almost clothlike. I like that the bags are easy to instal and go on rigorously panty hose so that there are no bursts of dust thrown back into the air.

These Q-HEPA bags are very monstrous and I’ve pore over anecdotes of them enduring up to six months. I dont consider they’ll last that desire for me; I vacuum the bagnio every day because lots of indecency is tracked in the shelter by two dogs and myself.

The proprietor’s guide for the vacuum advises not using any scented influence or powdered cleaner on the carpets because the dust may obstruct the bags. This could be a enigma for those who use Nick carpet cleaner as I do. Also if one gets fleas in the carpet, it’s most qualified to vacuum often and change-over the bag again, an up-market proposition with these bags.

To keep the bag smelling modern I like to add a sniff out spiral-bound notebook, car air cleaner, or some potpourri to the bag before inauguration. The guerdon for these bags on Amazon is respectable, markedly with the four for three dole out if it’s at one's fingertips when you comprehend this. Other vendors roster these bags for slenderize less than Amazon does, but gauge the additional postage charged by these sellers.

Ultimately – I quite like the bags and angel the Hoover Platinum vacuum cleaner.

I in reality take to these bags in my new Hoover Platinum vacuum cleaner. MUCH more apartment than a bagless. I can do my whole harbour 3200 sq. ft. without once changing or emptying anything – and not equitable once either. Which means MUCH MUCH less dust floating around me. What this bag takes in, it KEEPS. I absolutely can not see a solitary gather of dust coming out of this vacuum cleaner.
