World's first cardboard vacuum cleaner unveiled by Vax
A Vax vacuum cleaner made from recyclable nylon susceptible and cardboard from the box it arrives in has been designed by a British student.
The Vax Ev is made of recycled and recyclable materials, including corrugated cardboard panels from the Vax Ev's underived packaging.
Once detached from the box, the parts pop into place round the motor housing without the need for glue, and can be replaced at a tenth of the cost of a plastic equivalent.
Vax's director of new product development Paul Bagwell said: 'With sustainability becoming an increasing have relation for manufacturers, the Vax Ev shows just what can be achieved when young designers are encouraged to think creatively and push the boundaries of merchandise design.'
Greener vacs for consumersWhich? vacuum cleaner expert Katie Hill says: 'Vacs disposed to be made from parts that take a long time to degrade if they end up in landfill when you decide it's time for a new model.
'It's great to see Vax encouraging greener designs, but - while Vax may extrude a limited number of the Vax Ev - it would be nice to similar innovations in mass produced models so consumers have greener options when they store.
