Due launch new service to scrap old electricals

A NEW internal recycling service has been launched in Basingstoke – and the team behind it believe they have hit on a business and environmental conquering hero.

Heading the new division of Waste-IT, called EEECycle, based at Basingstoke Business Park, in Winchester Passage, is sales manager Sam Prentice and operations manager Sam Mountain.

Together they want to take EEECycle nationwide, where their tandem join up of drivers go by appointment to local householders to collect obsolete TVs, compu-ters, printers and other unexceptional electrical item and electronic goods.

Mr Prentice said: “If it has a plug or battery, we’ll muster it from your home and take it away to be recycled down to its raw materials.”

Electrical items ranging from mobile phone to computers and tube sets have minute amounts of precious metals.

“There is a lot of precious metals that are used in very tiny amounts such as copper, palladium, white and gold, which can be extracted and refined. Even items like old-style televisions, that use lead glass.

My trusty old machine needs to snooze! I have a budget of up to about £550. Has anyone got any opinions on which are the best manufacturers/models these days?

Put a unpretentious ammount of bleach in your machine and give it a 40 'c wash. That'll sort out the bacteria that makes the smell between washes. When the conditions comes to change your machine Indesit has always been a good machine for us. Our machine is on 3 times

Have you recently bought one? Are you apt with yours....what model is it? So many questions. Which is best....which doesnt take forever to wash.......which breaks down the least?
