Should I flush out My Hot Water Heater?

Is there any persistence you can do for a hot water heater? Should I flush out the water once in a while? I notice there is a tap at the bottom of the tank, and I have a drain close by.

It wouldn't injure sometimes particles in the water settle out in the tank if you got a drain handy go for it but you don't need to do it often unless you have a well or nasty water, but It won't hurt anything and may better.just open the tap and let the

unswerving go ahead and drain it,it cant hurt anything, and it does build up a lot of calcium and gravel, lime, and all kinds of garbage,if you do it on a regular schedule it will last a lot longer, bout once a year, depending on how hard the water is where you

yes you should strain it 2-4 times per year. I would run about 5-10 gal of water out. What happens is lime builds up on the bottom of the tank and causes problems later on. If you flush it once in a while it won't bod up as bad.

I suppose you are to do this about twice a year. I don't because every time I did the water heater would start leaking. I our area the water heater only last about five years at the most anyway.

How do you flush a hot water heater?

Don't certain if it matters but its electric.
First, and I cannot put under strain this enough, find the breaker to it, and TURN IT OFF. Not because you are in danger, but because you can burn out the heating coils very easily.
It's better if you allow your tank to ice for several

Is it okay to flush my 13 year old hot water heater, if I don't conscious if its ever been done before?
Moved in to the house six months ago. I'd like to keep the home well maintained, but I don't want to cause unforeseen wreck.
At that age, you are superior to let it be.
Besides, most of what is in there is caked by now, and very little would flush out.
