I at most bought a new ge smart water heater - manufactured in 4/07. Everything is set up but I think there is air in the gas line. Does anyone know how to force the gas through to the pilot?
You could untie a fitting and purge it quickly, but the safe way is to continue holding the pilot lighting knob down until you get gas through the valve.

You don't appetite to force a gas appliance, you could damage the valve and cause a safety issue. BOOM!!! Go over the start-up instructions again, if nothing changes. get facilitate.

My GE smart water water heater is leaking around the fitting where the bottom heating element is screwed in?

When I find it on it leaks past that fitting. What is a good tool to use to tighten it or remove it to fix leak. Help I have no hot water.
you very recently need to tighten the fitting. there are lots of pipe wrenches, or rubber band oil filter kind wrenches that will work. Have a handy neighbour look at it, it's about a 2 minute fix.

power forth type turn it off then on and it works for a day maybe a week
Sometimes the navigate jet is faulty but in a lot of cases it is a blow back through the flue. I had this once and fixed a metal shield alongside the flue store to stop the wind blowing in. Do not block exhaust exit.
