Ratiocinative of changing our water heater from conventional one to a tankless unit. We are in California. What should we expect to pay for installation of a tankless water heater?

Too much. Quite around $3K. Unless you have a big family and use lots of hot water, you're better off with a conventional heater.

I installed mine myself. I have had it for a shallow over a year and really like it. I bought it on Ebay for less that $100 and have a little bit of electrical and plumbing savoir faire and put mine in in less than a day. I would get several estimates on

Some states sell tax incentives or rebates for tankless heaters if installed by a licensed plumber or HVAC contractor.
Call a few plumbers and ask what they debit, and ask if there are any incentives.

I over I already answered your question, I do know this, no one gets a tank less hot water system for $100.00 no matter where they get it from.

I needfulness to know how much the heater is, too.
An common small heater for a house is about $900.00 without installation. An average man, handi-man, will have a hard time installing one of these, most desirable to have a plumber and, I can't say what the price of this would be.

It would use spontaneous gas, and I already have a big enough main gas pipe that ends right where I want to install the tankless. All I have to do is install the category III vent to the roof, which is about 10 feet up, and fuse the gas and water. The
